Adopting a Healthy Lifestyle

JamesPalmer

What is a healthy lifestyle? Read the first sentence again and think about what a healthy lifestyle is, once you can see and understand what a healthy lifestyle is and what it means to you you have to take the steps to get there.

I am twenty-six years old I had been unhealthy since I could remember. I always tried to be healthy but it would never last for more than a month or two this frustrated and angered me because I thought that products would bring me satisfaction. When I turned twenty-five I also looked at that phrase “what is a healthy lifestyle”. After I had figured out what it meant to me and that you cannot just be healthy, you have to make it your lifestyle, I was free. Free from thinking it was all a quick fix free from the products shoved down our throats magic pills and wonder tonics. I could see what needed to be done and I am doing it. Since my realisation I have lost a total of thirty-eight kilograms dropped from a pants size of forty-two to a size thirty-four, became a vegetarian and I incorporate exercise into my day-to-day life.

The first step to losing weight and living a healthy lifestyle is your mindset you have to be willing to sacrifice everything you are used to so that you can uncondition your mind. Remember that we live in a fast-paced world where we are constantly bombarded with advertisements designed to make us crave the unhealthy aspects of life. I am not just talking about food but also alcohol, restaurants, bars, smoking and many more.

The first and only step is discipline if you can discipline your mind and control your cravings you will win the battle. I am winning mine but still I fight, it is a long process but no magic pill or tonic will do anything for you unless you have control over yourself.

When I started on my journey just over a year ago I had cut out all dairy and carbohydrates making sure to eat only healthy meals, which meant no fast food whatsoever. Soon I was exercising three times a week which has now become four times a week, mainly cycling and weight training. My starting weight was one hundred and eighteen kilograms I am now weighing in at eighty kilograms. I achieved this in just over a year, believe me if I can do it anyone can do it.

So the next time you buy into a fad diet just remember that whatever means you use will not be nearly as powerful as your own discipline, control your mind and you will control your life.
